Proverbs 24:15-16 (The Message)
Don't interfere with good people's lives; don't try to get the best of them.No matter how many times you trip them up, God-loyal people don't stay down long;Soon they're up on their feet, while the wicked end up flat on their faces.
It is always too soon to quit. In the words of Winston Churchill speaking at Harrow School, "Never Give Up". The difference between victory and defeat is getting back up one more time.
In the words of George Eliot, "It's never too late to be what you might have been."
I suppose by this point you get the picture. It's all about perseverance. How many people have been on the edge of greatness and gave up. There are so many illustrations of this in the Bible. You might want to share your favorite story with me, and I can use them for next weeks devotions.
One of my favorites was Joshua. He was one of the 12 original spies who went into Canaan. Only he and Caleb came back and said that the children of Israel should cross over into Canaan and take the land from the people who were living there. The other 10 spies gave a negative report and the people listened to them. Because of that Joshua had to go back out into the wilderness and wonder around for a total of 40 years but, he never gave up. The book of Joshua is all about never giving up. Joshua came back and crossed into Canaan 38 years after that first visit and after 7 more years he conquered the land. We all face challenges everyday and, sometimes we are tempted to give up. I want to encourage you no matter what it is you are facing this week God is able to see you through it.... Never Ever Give Up.
Watch this amazing video of Derek Redmond running in the Olympics and pulling his hamstring. His father came down out of the stands and helped his son to finish the race. Our heavenly will pull along beside us and help us to finish our race.
